I am a MSW candidate completing my final requirements for my degree. One of my main focuses is compassion fatigue. If you have a loved one suffering from mental illness, you need support too. And if you work in a helping profession and you feel the emotional draining or burn out often associated with your profession, I am here for you. Even though I am just beginning my career as a therapist, I have had lots of life experience leading up to this goal. I have worked closely with children and families for 17 years as a special education teacher. This experience has given me perspective on how mental health can effect not just the individual but the whole family. I have worked on our district’s trauma informed task force to train, inform, and raise awareness of the effects of trauma especially in children as well as strategize supports to overcome issues. Healing is a conscious choice.
“Trauma creates change you don’t choose. Healing is about creating change you do choose.” Michelle Rosenthal
I have lived in many different parts of the world thanks to a father who was a pastor and a husband in the military. I have called Indiana home for the past 15 years. I have been married for 21 years and we have 3 boys. I received my BA from Midwestern State University in Texas. I am currently attending Indiana University for my MSW and will finish in December 2020. I enjoy being outdoors whether it is to read a book, enjoy a beach, or camp with my family. I look forward to working with you on your journey.
